The Boy Who Loved Apples
By Amanda WebsterThe tale of survival as Amanda Webster writes of how she immerses herself into trying to help her son. Leaving her husband and two other children she heads for Brisbane to seek out suitable treatment for anorexia. She writes candidly about the experiences of her son and her responses to his illness.
"The Boy Who Loved Apples is a compelling and beautifully written account of a family facing a crisis as they deal with the deadly mental health issue that is anorexia, and a story of a Mother who was determined to save her son at any cost. I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to share in this family's journey". Judy Bastian, Store Manager, Dymocks Adelaide.
"Knowing only a little about anorexia I found this an eye-opener on the illness itself. It was as much the story of the mother and the lengths she went to, and the sacrifices she made to keep her son out of hospital, but still get him well. It helped to tackle the misconceptions about the disease for those who have not had experience of it and would be a great support for anyone who has". Annie, TBBC.
"An insight into how a family cope with an unknown illness that has such a stigma attached to it. It makes you stop and take stock of what you do, and what is important in your life, and be thankful. A gutsy book". Sue Hill, General Manager, TBBC.
