The J. M. Barrie Ladies' Swimming Society
By Barbara J. ZitwerJoey undervalues her capabilities as an architect in a high flying New York firm. She is forced to take up the challenging task of restoring and preserving an old historic manor in the Cotswolds. She is also nursing a broken heart due to her cad of a boss.
On arriving in England, Joey finds her mojo with the unlikely help of a group of Octogenarian ladies whose main relaxation is to swim 365 days a year regardless of ice, snow, sleet or rain in the local pond. She is also forced to assess her relationship with an old girlfriend who left New York to live in London some years back. They realise they have little in common except their past. The story focuses on friendships new and old and how to value and nurture them.
"A light and heartwarming read full of imagery with an abundance of characters in particular the ladies of the pond". Sue Hill, General Manager, TBBC.
"This book was most enjoyable. I was always eager to being able to get back to it and continue reading. It was a feel good "lighter" read. Even so, I felt that that it sensitively dealt with and explored issues around friendships and loss in a far from shallow way". Rebekah, lawyer.
